TL;DR: We don't sell your data. Your prompts are processed to provide the service and are not stored long-term. We only collect what's necessary to make ClarityLayer work.
1. What We Collect
Data You Provide
- Prompts and responses — When you use ClarityLayer features, we process the text you're working with to provide analysis and improvements. This data is sent to AI providers (Anthropic Claude or OpenAI) for processing.
- Account information — If you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication and to send you transactional emails (purchase confirmations, magic links).
- Payment information — Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details.
Data Collected Automatically
- Usage analytics — We may collect anonymized usage data (feature clicks, error rates) to improve the product. This does not include your actual prompts.
- Technical data — Browser type, extension version, and error logs for debugging purposes.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide the service — Processing your prompts through AI to deliver analysis, improvements, and suggestions.
- To manage your account — Tracking credit balances, processing purchases, and authenticating your sessions.
- To improve ClarityLayer — Understanding how features are used to make them better (using anonymized data only).
- To communicate with you — Sending transactional emails like purchase receipts and login links.
3. Data Sharing
We share data only with:
- AI Providers — Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI process your prompts to generate improvements. Their privacy policies apply to that processing.
- Stripe — Handles all payment processing. We never see your card details.
- Supabase — Provides our authentication and database infrastructure.
- Cloudflare — Hosts our backend services and provides security.
We never sell your data to third parties.
4. Data Retention
- Prompts — Not stored after processing. We don't keep a history of your prompts.
- Account data — Retained while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
- Payment records — Retained as required by law for financial/tax purposes.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of data we have about you.
- Delete — Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Export — Get your data in a portable format.
- Opt-out — Disable analytics tracking through browser settings.

6. BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) Mode
When you use your own API key:
- Your prompts go directly to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic).
- We don't process or see your prompts — they never touch our servers.
- Your API key is stored locally in your browser, never sent to us.
7. Security
- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption.
- Passwords are never stored — we use magic link authentication.
- API keys in BYOK mode are stored locally in your browser's secure storage.
- We use industry-standard security practices and regularly review our systems.
8. Children's Privacy
ClarityLayer is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the extension or via email if you have an account.
